Description
Olds Recording Model Cornet S/n 309728 (Circa 1959) in excellent condition. Rey o Loy ( Copper) Lead pipe, Rey o Loy ( Copper) Bell. Valves have good POP compression and all slides and valves are fast and smooth. This one plays like melted butter! Balanced action with the offset valves. I love these horns. I own one myself! Very Cool Olds Recording. Dark tone but can honk if you put the jets to it. The horn is all original including the 3rd slide trigger mechanism. No dents, dings, or trauma. Sharp bell engraving still intact. The tone is beautiful dark and rich with spot on intonation. The Bell engraving is sharp and clear and a beautiful example of hand craftsmanship of a by-gone era by the engraver for Olds Mr. Leonard Garcia. Large Bore .470 Free blowing. Valves and slides are perfectt with lots of compression. The valves match the SN# 309728 of the horn. There is a beautiful patina where the lacquer has worn on the bell. The rest of the lacquer is worn or nonexistent. There are two small dings on the horn. Just a few scratches.
The valves are tight and compression is good. This horn plays exceptionally well. If you know anything about the “Recording” model olds, they are an exceptional cornet. The tone is rich and full in all registers. It is a joy to play. The original case is is Excellent shape. The outside of the case has many stickers. More pictures upon request. YouTube Very Soon.
