The LeBlanc Paris Bobby Herriot trumpet
As a Leblanc artist Bobby wanted a new horn which would give better projection of the trumpet voice in military marching band, concert band, and jazz ensemble performances. He believed the upturned bell was the answer, but felt Martin’s Dizzy horn had too sharp an angle to facilitate the easy blow he was looking for. Leblanc supplied Bobby with many new horns which he said were destroyed in an attempt to ‘get it right’. In the early 60’s he finally found the perfect angle and bore for the sound and projection he wanted. He also credits French brass as a superior material to brass being used in America as a major contributing factor to the great sound of these horns. Bobby noted that these were exceptional lead horns with extreme power, range, and projection.  A real collectors item from a bygone era.

Who was Bobby Herriot?
originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, he moved to Canada in 1957 after an education at the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall), the Royal Academy of Music, theRoyal College of Music in London, England and the Canadian Forces School of Music in Victoria, BC. He served with the Canadian Forces (Lieutenant Colonel) including stints with the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Canadian Artillery as trumpet soloist and conductor. 
After his military service, Bobby performed with the bands of Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Xavier Cugat, Lionel Hampton as well as with the Boss Brass, Howard Cable Orchestra, Peter Appleyard’s Swing Fever Orchestra, the Harry Waller Orchestra and regularly with various other orchestras and bands, in Theatres and recording studios in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and Vancouver. He was Vice President from Canada of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.- from Hamilton Concert Band website
